【摘要】:Fieldreportshaveattributedfiresandexplosionstothereaclionofaluminumwithcarbontetrachlorideormethylchloride.TheoreticalconsiderationssupportthepossibilityofsuchoccurrencesandUnderwriters'Laboratories,Inc.,hasmadeaninvestigationtoprovidetestdataonthefireandexplosionhazards.Testsundervariousconditionswereconductedusingmagnesiumpowderoraluminumexposedincontactwithcarbontetrachloride,methylchloride,trichloroethylene,dichloredifluoromethane,orcarbontetrachloride-chloroformmixtures.Amongotherresultsthetestsindicatethealuminumpowderincontactwithmethylchloride,carbontetraehloride,oracarbontetracbloride-chloroformmixtureiscapableofexplosion;methylchlorideincontactwithaluminummayformspontaneouslycombustiblealuminummethyl.Abombcontainingaluminumpowderandcarbontetrachlorideexplodedviolentlyafterheatingto152oC(305.6~F)in53minutes.Aluminumchlorideandcarbonwereamongtheproductsofthereaction.Whenstoredfor35to47daysincontactwithaluminumpowderinbombs,maintainedattemperaturesintherangeof29.4to43.3~C(85to1lO~F),acarbontetrachloride-chloroformmixturesuddenlydevelopedpressureinexcessof1800psiandrupturedthepressure-reliefdisc.Theescapinggasesignitedandburned.Productsofthereactionincludedaluminumchloride,freecarbon,andphosgene.Powderedaluminumignitedpiomptlyandburnedinthevaporofsuchacarbontetrachloride-chloroformmixtureatoneatmospherepressureandatatemperatureof286to312~C(547to594~F).Inthelimitedtestsofmagnesiumpowderandmethylchloride,ormagnesiumpowderandcarbontetrachloride-chloroformmixture,onlyslightreactionswereobtained.Furtherinvestigationwouldberequiredtodeterminethehazards,ifany,ofcarbontetrachlorideincontactwithaluminuminsheets,castings,orsimilarforms.
