【摘要】:1ThisInternationalStandardprovidesasystemfortheidentificationandpresentationofinformationaboutfreightcontainers.Theidentificationsystemisintendedforgeneralapplication,forexampleindocu-mentation,controlandcommunications(includingau-tomaticdataprocessingsystems),aswellasfordisplayonthecontainersthemselves.Themethodsofdisplayingidentificationandcertainotherdata(includingoperationaldata)oncontainersbymeansofpermanentmarksareincluded.2ThisInternationalStandardspecifies:a)acontaineridentificationsystem,withanassoci-atedsystemforverifyingtheaccuracyofitsuse,having:—mandatorymarksforthepresentationoftheidentificationsystemforvisualinterpretation,and—featurestobeusedinoptionalAutomaticEquipmentIdentification(AEI)andelectronicdatainterchange(EDI);b)acodingsystemfordataoncontainersizeandtype,withcorrespondingmarksfortheirdisplay;c)operationalmarks,bothmandatoryandoptional;d)physicalpresentationofmarksonthecontainer.3Theterms"mandatory"and"optional"inthisInternationalStandardareusedtodifferentiatethoseISOmarkingprovisionswhichshallnecessarilybefulfilledbyallcontainersfromthosewhicharenotrequiredofallcontainers.Theoptionalmarksarein-cludedtofurthercomprehensionandpromoteuni-formapplicationoftheoptionalmark.Ifachoicehasbeenmadetodisplayanoptionalmark,theprovisionslaiddowninthisInternationalStandardrelatingtothemarkshallbeapplied.Theterms"mandatory"and"optional"donotrefertorequirementsofanyregu-latorybody.4ThisInternationalStandardappliestoallfreightcontainerscoveredbyInternationalStandardsISO668,parts1to5ofISO1496,ISO8323andshould,whereverappropriateandpracticable,beap-plied:—tocontainersotherthanthosecoveredbytheInternationalStandardsmentionedinclause2;—tocontainer-relatedand/ordetachableequipment.NOTE1Containersmarkedaccordingtopreviousedi-tionsofISO6346neednotbere-marked.5ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotcovertem-poraryoperationalmarksofanykind,permanentmarks,dataplates,etc.whichmayberequiredbyintergovernmentalagreements,nationallegislationornongovernmentalorganizationsotherthanISO.NOTE2Someofthemajorinternationalconventionswhosecontainer-markingrequirementsarenotcoveredinthisInternationalStandardareasfollows:—InternationalConventionforSafeContainers(UN/IMO1992);—CustomsConventiononContainers1956and1972;—CustomsConventiononInternationalMovementofGoodsunderCoverofTIRCarnets(TIRConvention)1959and1975.Itshouldnotbeassumedthatthislistisexhaustive.ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotcoverthedisplayoftechnicaldataontankcontainers(seeISO1496-3),nordoesit,inanyway,includeidentificationmarksorsafetysignsforitemsofcargowhichmaybecar-riedinfreightcontainers.
