【摘要】:Thepresenceoflargegrainshasbeencorrelatedwithanomalousmechanicalbehaviorin,forexample,crackinitiation,crackpropagation,andfatigue.ThusthereisengineeringjustificationforreportingtheALAgrainsize.Thesemethodsshallonlybeusedwiththepresenceofoutliercoarsegrains,3ormoreASTMgrainsizenumberslargerthantherestofthemicrostructureandcomprising5%orlessofthespecimenarea.AtypicalexampleisshowninAnnexA1asFig.A1.1.Thesemethodsshallnotbeusedforthedeterminationofaveragegrainsize,whichistreatedinTestMethodsE112.ExamplesofmicrostructuresthatdonotqualifyforALAtreatmentareshowninAnnexA1asFig.A1.2,Fig.A1.3,andFig.A1.4.Thesemethodsmaybeappliedinthecharacterizationofduplexgrainsizes,asinstructedintheproceduresforTestMethodsE1181.1.1Thesetestmethodsdescribesimplemanualproceduresformeasuringthesizeofthelargestgraincross-sectionobservedonametallographicallypreparedplanesection.1.2Thesetestmethodsshallonlybevalidformicrostructurescontainingoutliercoarsegrains,wheretheirpopulationistoosparseforgrainsizedeterminationbyTestMethodsE112.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
